New Study 2022: Optimization of Tours & Routes for 100 Vehicles, 8,300 regular locations per month

Money is on the road: 25% less km + 10% less time required!

A long-standing customer with technical field service has been using AREALCONTROL since 2014. The main application is the recording of working hours for over 100 people via vehicle telematics due to the Minimum Wage Act (MiLoG). On average, 10 locations are visited every day with a stay of 20-40 minutes. The area of ​​operation is several federal states. For years, daily time recording has been automatically fed overnight into the customer's own HR department billing system. The fleet consists of cars and light vans or transporters. The actual routes from March and June 2022 were analyzed, i.e. two full months without public holidays and vacation series. The question was how the automatic tour planning, the "algorithm", would have worked and how high the savings potential is. In advance, it was estimated at around 10% fewer km routes.

Result: In both months, 25% of the mileage could have been saved with a total of 10% less time required!

What does that mean?

  • With a total business mileage of an average of 300,000 km per month, 75,000 km can be saved!
  • If you calculate with just €0.50/km, that's €32,500 per month.
  • Added to that is the time saving - keyword shortage of skilled workers - of 10%; corresponds to 1,600 hours in total,
  • at cost price of €50/hour, a further €80,000 per month.

These are really astonishing figures! The total savings are at least €100,000 per month and €1,100,000 per year.
