To digitize their own services, fleet service providers such as car dealerships, leasing and rental companies can limit the system to the technical data. This includes key data such as mileage, maintenance and inspection requirements, tank level, battery status, fluid levels and error messages. This data is used to book maintenance appointments, vehicle availability or billing based on mileage, excess or shortfall in kilometers. The data is transferred directly to further systems via a REST API.
The operator of a commercial fleet can and may view and record the location data live for scheduling purposes if this is necessary for operational purposes. An example is the typical service company that automatically has to prove the services provided with arrival and departure times and length of stay and for its customers, for example, compliance with the service level agreements (SLA).
To comply with the GDPR, the drivers can switch from business to private trips at any time using a touch button in the mobile logbook web app. In private mode, no coordinates are created, only the number of kilometers is recorded in the system. This means that the system complies with the requirements of the tax authorities. Since 2008, Arealcontrol's electronic logbook systems have been successfully used in large fleets and have been confirmed as system-compliant by numerous company audits.
Arealcontrol's range of solutions extends from automated time and performance records per vehicle, personnel deployment and location to electronic logbooks for pool fleets and solution packages consisting of apps, telematics with OBD/CAN bus data, remote tachograph download, transport management systems and ERP system connections. With this spectrum, Arealcontrol addresses a broad target group who want to gradually implement their own digitization strategies. Customers include construction, trade and service companies, larger fleet operators from many industries as well as transport and logistics companies.
